A culture where people contribute sooner, learn faster, and recover quickly when things go wrong
Profile
Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE is one of the most respected captains in British sport. Across an 18-year international career, she became Great Britain’s most-capped female hockey player and captained England and Great Britain for 13 years, selected by her teammates to lead.

A defining part of her story is the two-year rebuild inside Team GB Women’s Hockey between 2014 and 2016. The shift was not about motivation. It was about clarity and discipline: values built by the group, translated into everyday behaviours, and held through consistent accountability. That process culminated in Olympic Gold at Rio.

Kate is openly LGBTQ+ and is married to her teammate, Helen Richardson-Walsh. Together, they bring a rare perspective on trust, belonging and performance inside elite teams, and on what changes when people can show up fully without second-guessing whether they fit.
